Start Dressmaking With
Master Pattern - The Key to Success! Betty Foster, originally a research scientist, became involved in dressmaking through her family's business. The business sold ready-made clothes, fabrics and haberdashery. Betty discovered that a research project had presented itself. Where did the "Standard Size Woman" live? Ready-Mades needed altering and the subject of Dressmaking seemed to be a total hit-and-miss exercise, with a level of failure that was seriously damaging the subject. Using her engineering experience Betty started measuring women in the knowledge that, if the starting point for dressmaking could be a PATTERN of the INDIVIDUAL, success could be guaranteed. Applying this knowledge resulted in a very large research workroom Making-to-Measure accurately without the need for fittings. Teaching students how to do this was the next stage. Broadcasting, and several TV series, resulted in the publication of the necessary books and teaching aids. Anybody can learn to do it, and they do not need any Maths or Art ability.
